Educating Students in India

December-Janurary 2021-2022

Over the winter break of my Junior year, I visited India and participated in the SledgeHammer Foundation to volunteer to teach basic math and English to underprivileged students. I taught them how to solve problems involving long division, multiplication with multi-digit numbers, and introduction to operations with fractions. For English, the topics I taught were less intense, and more focused on the fundamental subject and verb skills in a sentence structure. I worked with these students for around two weeks and was delighted work with eager students.

SledgeHammer Foundation’s mission is to provide deserving education classes especially for girls in India, and empowering them is one of their key missions. By providing better infrastructure, quality education, skill building, and sports development, they aim to create an equal and just society for all genders.
